A hard disk drive failure occurs when a hard disk drive malfunctions or stops working at all and you are not able to access the stored information on the hard disk. Hard drive failure is always an infuriating problem

What could be the possible reasons for the hard disk failure? It could be a manufacturer default, could be because of heating of your PC, may be a power failure or a short circuit and so on. Let us study below the reasons of hard disk failure.

Reasons for the hard disk failure:

  1. Manufacturer Default

This problem occurs with the new hard disk from the manufacturer sold to the customer without testing the hard disk. In this case user can simply ask for an exchange or a refund for the same.

  1. Heating of the PC

  Sometimes the fan of the PC is not working properly or improper ventilation could be the reason for the heating of the PC. In this case, you will have to double check that the sufficient cooling is delivered or you may also use cooling pads for you laptops.

  1. Electronic failure

Sometimes hard disk error could occur because of the power supply. Power supply for UPS is either too high or too low which leads to power surge. You should always use a well known brand of UPS. Switch off your PC when not in use. 

  1. Internal Failure

It could a virus attack on your PC which will eventually erase your hard disk data and alter hard disk operations. Internal failure could also occur from bad sectors and blocks in hard disk, the spindle motor stops functioning. You should always keep on updating your system at regular intervals. Install the latest antivirus and clean your system as and when possible. You may also replace your hard disk after 3-4 years of use.

  1. Corrupted Files.

This could happen because of improper way of shutting down the PC or accidentally closure of running programs.

Always follow the standard way of shutting down your pc and close all the programs before shutting down your PC.
