Setup a Printer

Ask Your Expert

To print through Wi-Fi from your computer, or to quickly share your printer with others, you can always connect your printer to Google Cloud Print.
What all you need:
  • A printer that has a Wi-Fi feature.
  • A computer with the Chrome browser installed.
Step 1: Connect to Wi-Fi
  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
  3. Turn on your computer.
  4. Connect your computer to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer.
Step 2: Figure out if your printer is cloud-ready
Go to the cloud-ready printers page and look for your printer manufacturer and model number.
  • If your printer has version 2.0 labelled as ”v2″ next to it, your printer is cloud-ready.
  • If your printer has version 1.0 or is not labelled as  “v2,” your printer is cloud-ready (version 1.0).
  • If your printer is not listed, your printer is not cloud-ready. But if it can connect to Wi-Fi, you can set it up with Google Cloud Print.
Step 3: Connect your printer to Google Cloud Print
a. Connect a printer that’s not cloud-ready
To set up this printer, you need a PC or Mac computer.

  3. Type chrome://devices and press Enter.
  4. Under “Classic Printers,” click Add printers.

  6. To check if your printer was added, click Manage your printers.
b. Connect a cloud-ready printer (2.0)
On your computer, open Chrome
  1. Type chrome://devices and press Enter.
  2. Under “New devices,” check for your printer.
  3. Next to your printer, click Manage.
  4. In the “Confirm registration” box that appears, click Register.
  5. On your printer screen, follow the steps to finish registeration. You might have to press a button that says Register or OK.
  6. To check if your printer is registered, on your computer, go to and click Printers.
